What is a Blog and Why WordPress?
A blog is a content management system. It basically is a website but a different form of a website. It has a lot of opportunities that are not available in a standard HTML website. For some reason search engines love Blogs and it is easier to get your blogs indexed than a standard HTML website. Blogs have an automatic system built within them called pinging. Every time something new is added to your blog, any new comments, blogs, posts etc. the blog automatically sends a notice through a means of pinging to all the search engines and a number of directories. The blog is automatically alerting the search engines that you have new content.
WordPress is a standard blog of the industry and I feel it is the best all around system for blogging.
Can you use Google’s Blogger? The answer is yes. There are uses for Google’s Blogger.
The main problem with blogger is that it is owned by Google and it is run on their servers. When you set up a Bloggers blog you are limited to what you can do and what you can add. If Google should ever decide that they don’t like your blog content or they need to cut back on some space, they can can press a button and your blog is gone. So, if you decide you want a free blog, remember to back up all the content just in case one day your blog disappears.
There are some good uses for Google’s Blogger blog and that will be covered at a later time.
